BIOGRAPHY_

EQUIPMENT_

Of course, the most important reason people come to Bcnsound is for chocolate biscuits and a big sofa, but as far as equipment goes, the studio is completely computer based:

- Mac G5 dual 2 Ghz with Logic Pro, Ableton Live and more
- RME Fireface 800 Audio interface

-
Citriq ProDAW with Live, Nuendo, and more

-
2 x Soundart Chameleon reprogrammable hardware - (Virtual Analog, Vocoder, Filterbank, Amp- modeller, Multi-FX, Reverb, Dance Module, Phase Distortion...)
- Lexicon MPX 1 reverb/FX
- Access Virus Rack synth
- Yamaha NS10 Monitors
- Shure and AKG mics
-
Wurlitzer EP200 electric piano (my baby)

There are of course a variety of acoustic instruments kicking around for making noises...Drom Workshop drums, acoustic and electric guitars, violin, ukelele, an old trumpet...

I started out studying music at Goldsmiths, London. I studied piano with John Tilbury. While completing my degree, my first (and rather odd) forays into studio production were signed to Hydrogen Dukebox Records.

While completing a masters (which more than anything else was an excuse to get my hands on a nice big studio with grand piano and modular synths for two years) I worked my next album, and worked as a session musician, most notably as drummer with the James Hardway Quartet.
It was with Hardway that I first came to Barcelona, to play as part of the BAM festival. I really loved the city, and didn't realise then that I would have my future studio about 100 yards from where we played. We were on the stage at the port, in front of the Imax, and I thought it was one of the nicest locations for a gig I had ever played...

In 2002 I moved to Barcelona went on to set up Bcnsound, and have since worked on music production for other recording artists, for film, TV, advertising and several other personal projects under different guises...

I was lucky enough to play Glastonbury and many other festivals around the world with Hardway, which was a great experience and a lot of fun. The Hardway team included at various times Theo Gordon (Roots Manuva), London jazz veteran bassist Miles Danso and singer/songwriter Amanda Ghost, who went on to cowrite the James Blunt hit "Your Beautiful".
